Centres
All centres interested in obtaining approval from ABP should contact info@abp.org.uk. The approval procedure includes a review of the centre's resources and may also include a centre visit by an ABP representative. Centres which are already ABE accredited will not be subject to a further approval fee from ABP.
It is the responsibility of the approved centre to register their students with ABP within 30 days of the student starting an ABP programme. Centres will be required to complete and return to ABP a student registration form.
Assessment
With the exception of single-ABE unit qualifications (see below), for externally assessed ABP qualifications, approved ABP centres will administer the final assessments (e.g. time-constrained multi-choice tests). ABP will work with approved centres to ensure the quality and security of ABP external assessments is not compromised in any way. ABP reserves the right to make unannounced ad-hoc inspection visits to all approved centres involved in administering ABP assessments. Initially, ABP external assessment opportunities will be limited to four times per year – March, June, September and December. Longer term, ABP intends to introduce online, on-demand testing as an alternative option.
For externally assessed ABP programmes, it is the responsibility of the centre to enter students with ABP for external assessment. Centres are requested to complete and return to ABP a student exam entry form. Exam entry deadlines and exam dates will appear on the ABP website.
For internally assessed ABP programmes, it is the responsibility of the centre to complete a student report form, which records, performance to ABP and to request certification from ABP. Centres approved to offer internally assessed ABP programmes will be subject to regular external verification activity. For more information, centres should contact info@abp.org.uk.
Learners sitting single-ABE unit qualifications (awarded by ABP) will sit examinations at the same time as ABE students. Historically, ABE exams are scheduled to take place in the first week of June and the first week of December. Deadlines for exam entries for single-ABE unit qualifications are the end of the first week in April (June session) and the end of the first week in October (December session). ABE does not offer single unit qualifications - centres should therefore enter students for single-ABE unit qualifications directly with ABP using the standard ABP student registration and exam entry forms.
ABP-approved centres which offer single-ABE unit qualifications can have access to ABE tuition resources. For more details, centres should contact info@abp.org.uk.
For information relating to the ABP centre/qualification accreditation fees and student registration/examination entry fees, centres should contact info@abp.org.uk.
